RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES  

The meeting of the WLE POA Recreation Committee was called to order by Tri Chair Lonnie Galovic at

10:07 a.m. Saturday, April 8th, 2023, in the Adult Lodge.  Members stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.  

Minutes  

Minutes for February were sent to the members to review before the meeting. Lonnie asked if there were any additions or corrections. There were not.  Approved by Carol Greig, Fran Kurz to second.

The treasurer’s report was read by Lonnie Galovic

Balance forwarded on 1/31/2022 was $31,331.55.

Total Revenue is $4,252.10, Total expenses are $2,744.04, Total cash is $43,339.61.

 GL Ending Balance @ 2/28/2023 – $32,839.61.

Motion to approve treasurers report- Approved by Nan Yack and second by Martin Logue

OLD BUISNESS

St. Patrick’s Day- 102 people showed up. Huge Thank you to all the volunteers. Mike McGregor for making all the soda bread. 

Kids egg hunt – Moved to MCH, will be held there in the future. 3,000 eggs were stuffed. 100 people in attendance. 

Frank Carrotozzolo – Thank you to everyone who helped with the Superbowl viewing party.

Event packet – Not a lot of change, but some change of language. Please review. Will be left to vote on next meeting. 

UPCOMING BUISNESS

Karaoke- 4/22 7-2am. No cost event. About 40 people came at the last one. 

Wildlife Preservation- 5/6- MCH, 2PM.  Sign up in the office. Live animals with discussions. 

Comedy night – 5/27, $20 pp. 

Corn Hole tournament- Held at Rockledge. There are 4 corn hole sets borrowed for event. Memorial Day weekend. No cost event- Donated prizes.  Funds may be requested for concession. Volunteers will be needed to referee. 

To be broken down by age groups:

 8-12 yrs old     1 – 2:30pm

13-17 yrs old    2:30 – 4pm

18+                     4 – 5:30pm

Scavenger Hunt – 5/27, 11am – Good to go.

Memorial Day Bingo– Good to go- 5/28, Doors open at 6:30, game starts promptly at 7pm.

Sip -n-paint- 6/24, Sunflower to be painted on wood. Glass painting to be postponed.

Independence Day Picnic – Still working on food trucks, beverage, pastry. Stands also welcome. DJ is booked. 

NEW BUISNESS

Sand art– Need a date- Inventory to be completed.

Summer bingo – Starts first week of July. Tuesday nights the door opens at 6:30, games start promptly at 7pm. 

Neighborhood watch – Call Mal Mack for extra assistance. Coral people and cars in parking lot for example. 

Craft store– Order made- Cheaper to embroider all the clothing. The cost of shirts has gone up. Requesting a budget increase. Approved for a $2000.00 Increase. Martin Logue and Jack Vetter to second. All in favor, no one opposed. 

Swim team – Kathy says everything is great. Still looking for applications for coaches. 

Comedian – 7/22 – Uncle Floyd. Price/ with spaghetti dinner. Cost $20-$25 per person. 50/50’s. Still need a budget. Motion to secure date. To have more info at the next meeting.

Car Show – Aug 5, 11-4pm. Concession available. Made $375 last year. Possible budget to include plaques. Revisit budget request next meeting. Show to be held at Kasper. 

Family Glow Party– July 8th – 5-9pm. MCH. Night club scene for the whole family. DJ secured. Concession available (food and glow sticks). Appropriate music. 50-50. Requesting $1000. Approved by Cassandra Galovic, second by Martin Logue. All in favor, none opposed. 

Card Bingo – Last day of season- June 9th. 

Labor Day events – 9/2- Kathy Jordan- Fundraiser – tricky tray 

Volleyball Tournament?

Fall Events -Time to start planning.

Beach Party -8/19 – 5-10pm. Looking for Polynesian dancers. Foam machine on dance floor in front of DJ, pig roast, games. Last year over 300 people came. (Next meeting will have a definite time slot). To be held at Beaver Beach. More info to come. 

Fly Fishing Course – 5/13 from 9-3. No cost. Only accepting 14 ppl. Free lunch, the course and certificate. Call Marina Shwartz. 18 years old and older.
