WALLENPAUPACK LAKE ESTATES PROPERTY OWNER’S ASSOCIATION   

RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES  

October 14th, 2023

The meeting of the WLE POA Recreation Committee was called to order by Tri Chair Lonnie Galovic at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, October 14th, 2023, in the Adult Lodge.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Martin Logue was welcome to the Tri-Chair and Terry Cucciniello was thanked for her last three years as tri-chair.

Minutes  

Minutes for September were accepted by Cassandra Galovic and Al Cucciniello.

The treasurer’s report was read by Joey Marino. Balance forwarded on 8/31/2023 was $47,856.63.  July’s total revenue was $10,916.72, total expenses were $11,528.49.  Consequently, our general ledger balance for September 31, 2023, is $47,244.86.   Our account includes checking, Venmo $500.00 and CD of $10,000.00 for a grand total of $57,744.86.  Motion to approve by Stephanie Bradford, second by Al Cucciniello.  All were in favor, no opposition, Treasurer’s Report was accepted. 

Lonnie thanked all volunteers for their time and work in running events.  

OLD BUSINESS

 

Card Bingo– Doing very well. The attendance was 50+ people. 

Karaoke– Roughly 15 people in attendance due to date change.

Thursday Coffee– Ready to begin.

Trunk or Treat- 10/28 from 2-4. Purchasing snacks and beverages. Need a couple more volunteers. Otherwise, ready to go.

Adult/ Family Halloween Party– 35 people signed up so far. Just waiting until they get closer to the event to purchase food. 

UPCOMING BUSINESS

Pre-Holiday Party – Cassandra and Lonnie will chair.  Main Clubhouse, November 25 (Saturday after Thanksgiving), from 7 – 10:00.  Adults only party, BYOB

Hero Ornaments– Cancelled due to time constraints.

Christmas tree Lighting– Cassandra Galovic to chair. 12/2 at 7pm. Usual event- tree lighting, carolers, hot chocolate, and cookies to be served in the main club house immediately following the tree lighting.

Craft Fair– Kathy Navetta 12/2 from 12-4pm. 12 Venders so far. Held in the Main Club House. $5.00 table fee. 

Digital Board– To be discussed next month.

Karaoke- Will revisit. Potentially November

2024 Budget- Send E-mailed adjustments as needed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Fire Truck Santa– Date change to 12/9 due to Santa’s availability. Santa map will be available closer to the event. 

Very Merry Christmas Party– Chaired by Cassandra and Sioban. 12/9 from 5-9pm. Looking for toy donations for raffles. 

New Years Eve Party– Waiting for Frank

Family Fun Nights- Every other month. Families come to the Main Club House and play games. Giant Jenga or Giant Connect 4

Adult Fun Night- similar to family fun night, but more adult oriented. More to come.

Indoor Cornhole– Main club house. William Raimondi. Tentative 11/18

Future Business

Volunteer Needed for Whacky Winter Weekend (President’s weekend 2/17- 2/18)

  • Ice Cream Social- Frank and Diane Cor
  • Bonfire/ Ice Skating
  • Cardboard sled- building- pending snow. Frank C.
  • Brunch- Need Volunteers.
  • Bingo- Stephanie Bradford

Superbowl Party– Frank and Diane

Event Proposals

  • Ballroom dancing- Velma- Discussed teaching a ballroom dancing class. They do put on shows. She was asked to put a proposal together for further information. Terry mentioned there might be an issue because of charging a fee and being able to use the club house
  • Terry C. For the summer, renting inflatable slides/ inflatable water slides. 
  • Casino night. Martin and Michelle will be sharing the information of a company that does casino nights and rents games.
  • Cigar aficionado group- swap cigars, drink bourbon. Maybe monthly. An opportunity to meet neighbors who also enjoy these activities. All buildings are smoke free. 
  • Stephanie Bradford-Murder mystery dinner- Main club house- Next year. Around Halloween time. Themed. Paired with a dinner. 
  • Stephanie Bradford- Chili cook off- Need to put together a proposal. Awards on presentation, hottest, best tasting. Family event. Perhaps a stipend for competitors. Sometime in January. Will have date next meeting. Do a 50/50. A blind tasting. 
  • Cassandra Galovic- Working on designer bag bingo for Mother’s Day
